Still overrun with leftover Halloween candy? Already piling up cheap bottles of holiday wine you never wanted? Need to clean out your ugly tie collection before you get another one? Regretting the purchase of that Miley Cyprus CD? This is the place to unload! For our O.H. veterans, they know what this is all about, but for the newbies: this is a fun swapfest where you get rid of stuff you don't want anymore and (with luck!) pick up something you like better! Some people keep trying to call this "Bad Santa", but I REALLY don't like that name! So let's stick with "Re-Gifting" ! And, oh yes, we WILL play cards before the re-gifting! Rules for re-gifts: 1) wrapped or bagged
2) usable by any gender (but you can bring ties!)
3) small enough or totable enough for people to take on public transportation
4) no repeats from previous O.H. re-giftings! Yard sale rejects, back-of-closet losers, and other lame objects are always welcome--though nobody ever complains about really nice gifts, either! And don't worry if you can't make this one--we will have a Re-gifting Part Two after Hanukkah and Christmas.... Happy Thanksgiving!

And get this, when I asked her about playing "Oh, Hell" during her visit, she actually said: "The "Oh Hell" game sounds like fun and it would be nice to meet some of your friends. Do you actually play at the restaurant? I'd be surprised that they would let you stay for that." Soooo...it's on! Although she may appear to be a mild-mannered and soft-spoken old lady with Parkinson's, she's been playing cards her entire life, so do NOT underestimate her! As usual, trash talk is welcome, but I WILL have to ask you to bleep out the four-letter words for this particular night! (Although mom may be amused by Corina's style of cussing.) Hope you can make it!

My October weekend schedule is turning out to be really busy, so I am going to go ahead and schedule a second card game night in late September. After that I will not schedule another one until late October or early November. OK, that last email about TGIF was a false alarm, but this time I am really scheduling a TGIF edition of "Oh, Hell!"! Our "regular" joint is closed on 4th of July, so we will be meeting at Cosi--whoopee]! If you're not heading out of town but don't want to deal with crowds down on the Mall, come and grab some grub and a game of "Oh, Hell!", then at 9 pm we will walk over to my apartment building roofdeck where you will have a somewhat obscured but still thrilling view of the National Fireworks! Yes, depending on exactly where they set them off, you may be able to see anywhere between 50% to 100% of the actual display! And then you can see distant fireworks in Maryland and Virginia--all for free!!!!
NOTE on accessibility:
You will have to climb some stairs to get to my roofdeck.
NOTE on transportation:
There usually IS parking available in Dupont Circle on July 4th weekend (lots of people go out of town), but I would still caution against driving in from the suburbs since traffic might be fairly heavy depending on your timing. My place is just three blocks away from Cosi. NOTE on weather:
If weather preempts the fireworks, we will just stay at Cosi. NOTE on RSVPs
I am turning the "maybe" option off this time--I know people will have other options on the 4th of July, so if you're really uncertain, please RSVP "no" with a comment. You can always change your RSVP to "yes" that afternoon.

So if you have too much Easter candy, Hanukkah wine, Earth Day organics, or Mother's Day gifts, or need to clean out the closets, nothing is too lame to get rid of at re-gifting night!
